COVID-19 Update

For several weeks, we have been monitoring the growth and impact of the COVID-19 virus. Both the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have indicated that the immediate health risk is low in the United States, but much remains unknown about how the virus will spread and how it will impact the health of those infected.

The health and wellbeing of all those who gather, serve, and live on the campus of Lancaster Baptist Church and West Coast Baptist College is a primary concern. Although the State of California and the County of Los Angeles have each declared a state of emergency, there are no confirmed cases in Lancaster or the surrounding area.

For decades, God has used this conference to bring many students into a relationship with Himself and to call others forward in their Christian growth. We cherish the opportunity to partner with so many churches and families in this special time together each year, and we recognize that many of you have worked hard to prepare for this event and will be sad to hear this news. We are equally sad to share it.

After much prayer and counsel and in adherence to the guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health, we have concluded it would be unwise to proceed with this year’s Higher Call Youth Conference. This has not been an easy decision to make, and we look forward to investing even more time into planning and preparing for 2021.
